Medical Foundation Scotland shortlisted for charity award

The Medical Foundation's Scotland centre has been shortlisted for the 3rd Annual Scottish Charity Awards as an organisation that has made significant achievements in the past year.

The awards are an initiative run by the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations and Third Force News.

On being shortlisted as Charity of the Year, Simon Carruth, CEO of the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture, said: "We were absolutely delighted to have been shortlisted. This is a welcome recognition of the invaluable work carried out by a dedicated team of paid and voluntary staff in supporting torture survivors and their families to overcome trauma and rebuild their lives.

"We also hope it will highlight the plight of thousands of people who continue to be forced into exile by torture."

The Medical Foundation Scotland, based in Glasgow, was among 15 shortlisted charities. In the category of Charity of the Year, it was shortlisted alongside Kibble Education and Care Centre, and Bethany Christian Trust, which ultimately won the award.
