MF supporter wins second place in 5km charity run
Competing in 27° C heat with minimal training and preparation, a supporter of the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture (MF) has defied the odds and finished second in a five-kilometre charity run.
Dave Green, who has supported the work of the MF for over three years, raised £270 in the ‘Do it for Charity’ race on May 11.
"I wanted to finish with a decent time of less than 25 minutes, but in the end I finished in less than 18 minutes which I never expected," said Dave, a Physiology Lecturer at Kings College London.
"But the day was really about raising money for the Medical Foundation.
"The MF has come a long way in a relatively short period of time which is a good thing in one respect but also a sad reflection on the state of the world.
"The services that MF offers are vital for many of those most vulnerable within British society."
