Latin American Evening, Sheffield
Burton Street Project, 57 Burton Street, 7.30pm for 8pm start
Hope Valley & Sheffield group present a Latin-American evening, featuring
Sally Doherty and her Latin Quartet. There will be food with a Latin-American
flavour, and a licensed bar. Chairs will be arranged cafe-style, around
tables.
Sally Doherty specialises in Brazilian bossa novas and sambas which she
sings in the authentic Portuguese language. Many of these songs were written
by Antonio Carlos Jobim, the highly respected composer whose works have
infiltrated the repertoire of most Jazz musicians. She also sings boleros
from Cuba and Mexico and the occassional song from Peru (all sung in Spanish).
She brings to these wonderful songs her own warm and passionate tones.
She will be joined by John Trier on piano, Colin Elliot on double bass
and Caroline Boaden on drums. Further information about Sally can be found
at www.sallydoherty.com
The venue has wheelchair access and plenty of parking space. It is also
accessible by bus and tram.
Tickets available on the door, £7 (£5 concessions).
