Open Garden at Bishop House, Sheffield - July 2007

The Bishop of Sheffield the Right Rev'd Jack Nicholls opened his garden for the Hope Valley and Sheffield Group in July. We were fortunate in having the first fine Saturday for weeks for this event, where the many visitors enjoyed the delightful garden. Plants, bookstall, music and refreshments were provided and we succeeded in raising £502. Many thanks to the Bishop and his wife for their support.

Jazz in the Field, Edale, near Sheffield - June 2007
More than 700 people turned up to support the sixth annual "Jazz in the Field" which broke all records to raise almost £5,000. This year's bands were local students performing with "Far Flung", followed by Robin Beatty's Magic Tree Orchestra, and the Leeds-based "Revelation" quartet. Grateful thanks to all who contributed and participated. You can view some pictures here: http://www.jazzinthefield.org/gallery.htm

Write to Life at Off the Shelf, Sheffield - October 2007

Award-winning author Lesley Glaister joined the Medical Foundation's own writers at an event during Sheffield's "Off the Shelf" literary festival. Lesley read excerpts from one of her books inspired by her father's experiences in a Japanese prisoner of war camp work after an opening presentation by members of MF's "Write to Life" project.
