West Dorset local group

The West Dorset Local Group was set up in 1999 to raise valuable funds for the Medical Foundation and to increase local awareness of torture and its effects. The group meets twice yearly (usually in Dorchester) to plan fundraising activities which take place throughout West Dorset. Local volunteers are then contacted in writing with details of the events taking place and practical ways in which they may be able to help.

Although a relatively small fundraising group, last year, in 2006, we raised £555 for the Medical Foundation by holding stalls at various events including Yetminster Street Fair, Bridport Peace Fair, Dorchester's One World Week and the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival. As well as some very successful fundraising and awareness raising we also enjoyed participating in some wonderful fairs and festivals here in the beautiful county of Dorset.

With more supporters we could raise the profile of the Medical Foundation even more. If you feel you would like to help us in this challenge, please get in touch. Anything you can do to help us raise funds would be appreciated and your level of involvement is completely up to you. All new members will be guaranteed a warm welcome!
