Throw a Cream Tea Party for the Medical Foundation

Scones

Cream Tea Parties are becoming a very popular way of raising money for the Medical Foundation. Sarah Walton threw a cream tea party in December 2006 and raised an amazing £845. So why not invite your friends and colleagues over for tea and cakes and ask them all for a donation? We can provide you with leaflets, posters, collecting tins and anything else you might need to make your party a success. Just email sponsored [at] torturecare [dot] org [dot] uk
or call 0207 697 7749

Got a passion? Why not use it and throw a themed charity party for the MF?

Create your own event

Organise your own event

Be it cookery, poetry reading, gardening or music, you can put your own and other's skills to good use, having fun and meeting like-minded individuals at the same time.

If you are in the process of planning your own event in aid of the Medical Foundation, why not let us know and we can assist with publicity, give you ideas and send you materials about the work of the Medical Foundation. Contact sponsored@torturecare.org.uk

Introduce our work to your religious group

There are many ways in which faith groups can support our work. Your group could hold a service about torture survivors, for which we can provide a speaker who could talk about our work and answer any questions that individuals may have.

Putting up a display in a foyer of your church or on a noticeboard can help raise awareness about the Medical Foundation. If your place of worship has a charitable giving element we would be very happy to make any applications, or to give more information about our work.

Kate Sargent's Hat Party

hat_lunch_150

Kate Sargent raised an amazing £540 from a charity lunch held in her village.
"The lunch took place in our village hall. It took the form of a sit-down lunch followed by a talk entitled 'My Life and Hats' given by Catherine from Catherine Clark Hat Hire. She brought a selection of stunning hats, together with fascinators and handbags. She modelled the hats to illustrate what to look for when choosing a hat. She also had a selection of vintage hats that had us tripping down memory lane with thoughts of mothers who wouldn't be seen out of the house without one! To finish we had a chance to try on some of the hats ourselves. 40 women attended. The food and wine were kindly donated so that all the profits went to the Medical Foundation."

Lavender Pockets

Mrs Bartle from Twickenham thought of an ingenious way to help.

She created these beautiful hand-sewn lavender pouches from plants she grew in her own garden. We put them in reception and clients were able to take them home, to put under their pillows.

Many of our clients have difficulty sleeping, insomnia as well as nightmares, in fact, it is the most commonly reported non-physical after-effect of torture.

Mrs Bartle also made Easter gifts for our young clients, which were much appreciated.
