2007 Supporters’ Reception

On the 28th June, to mark UN International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, the Medical Foundation's headquarters in London saw the largest number of supporters to gather here since the centre opened in 2004.

Guests got to be the first in the UK to see young Iraqi artist Soodad Al-Naib's poignant and thought provoking art exhibtion at the event and were able to meet the artist in person.

Simon Carruth, CEO was delighted to welcome everyone to a place that is a sanctuary to thousands of torture survivors and their families. Simon asserted that "spurious claims that torture and ill treatment are needed to keep our communities safe cannot be left unanswered." He went on to assure the audience that "on a daily basis we seek to find ways to convey the extent of the harm that torture does."

We would like to thank Octopus Catering whose indulgent canapos and immaculate service was enjoyed by all.

Thank you to The CityPoint Club who donated a generous prize for our fundraising raffle.

And of course we also thank all the volunteers who helped make the evening possible.
